Ultherapy is a type of HIFU non-invasive aesthetic treatment that uses radiofrequency to reach the deepest layers of the skin. The heating of the inner layers stimulates blood flow to the facial skin and boosts collagen production. This is a powerful treatment that can be done once in a few months.
Find out what is HIFU and how you can get the same results as Ultherapy but at a lower price.
The results? Younger, wrinkle-free skin.
At this point of your journey, maybe you have decided that Ultherapy is something you would like to try.
Probably the most common question that pops up in our practice is:
What are the side effects of this treatment?
Today we will help you with the answer by providing complete information about the post-treatment skin condition.
1. Skin redness
Ultherapy is a treatment that uses radiofrequency to heat the deeper layers of the skin. The most natural consequence after doing Utherapy is to experience redness for a few days. Usually, this particular discomfort is gone by the second day after the procedure.
2. Pain
Unfortunately, painless skin tightening treatment doesn’t exist. Professionals say that you should feel it. If you think it – it is working. Please, keep in mind that the pain is entirely tolerable.
Sometimes if a patient experiences a nasty toothache, the pain can intensify. This happens if we place the device on the jawline. In other cases, the pain feels like an increased sensitivity.
The treatment doesn’t cause bruising.
3. Swelling
Immediately after the treatment, you might feel your skin swell. This may last for a few days, and it’s normal. As new tissue builds up, the area retains liquid, and this results in swelling. When the healing process is over, the skin goes back to normal and looks much better than before the treatment.
Some practitioners prescribe meds for inflammation, but most patients reject the idea of taking pills. If meds are not for you, a simple Aspirin can work wonders for you. Anyway – swelling is part of the healing process and means that Ultherapy is working.
4. Tingling sensation and tenderness
The most common side effect of Ultherapy is the tingling sensation or tenderness. It usually stays up to two weeks. It is not something that can affect your daily life. Just make sure to put numbing cream if the sensitivity bothers you. Again this is part of the healing process and means that tissue is recovering.
5. Numbness
Not so common – numbness can be pretty frightening to patients. It feels like 12 hours after anesthesia is injected into your skin. Of course, this lasts for a few days, and it won’t paralyze you. You will be able to move all of your facial muscles and do all the expressions you feel like. The numbness is felt only when you try to touch your skin.
This site is very temporary and harmless.
Ultraformer III HIFU vs. Ultherapy HIFU
HIFU is the type of treatment method – high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy. Ultraformer III and Ultherapy are types of brands that offer a HIFU treatment. Consider Ultherapy as the most popular brand, but not necessarily the best option. Ultherapy is like Nike or Addidas for sportswear – they are popular, longer around, invest in marketing, and are established and stable. But do you all wear Nike or Addidas? Numerous sportswear brands have excellent quality and are much more affordable.
The same applies to Ultherapy and other brands such as SonoQueen, Ultraformer, Doublo-S, etc. At 7 Derma, we work with the Ultraformer III machine, which has all the benefits of Ulthera and much better prices for the quality you get. Ultraformer III also targets the deepest layer of the dermis, requires only one session to see visible results, and has mild side effects that go away as soon as the treatment is over.

You don’t have to worry about side effects if your practitioner is certified and professional.
HIFU is a very sophisticated treatment. The devices in 7 Derma are FDA-approved and completely safe. Nonetheless, damages can be done if your professional is not familiar with the device’s potential. Your therapist should be able to evaluate your skin condition. This will help with the choice of heat depth.
Here at 7 Derma Center, you can find two wonderful specialists with more than 17 years of experience in Aesthetics. Olga Lelekova and Lyudmila Yaghorova are fully certified Ulthera & Ultraformer III practitioners. They precisely determine whether your skin is suitable for the HIFU treatment or not.
