Recently we posted a very useful information about the preparation for semi-permanent makeup and what you need to know when choosing a technique. In this blog post we will discuss the steps you need to follow when you already have your eyebrows done with Microblading.
Let’s begin!
30 minutes after the treatment
All semi-permanent makeup techniques leave redness on your eyebrows. At this moment they’re irritated and very sensitive. The first thing you do almost right before you have your brows done by a specialist is to: use a non-alcoholic wet wipes to cleanse the area.
Have alcohol FREE wet wipes along with you and use them 30 minutes after the tattoo treatment. The safest option is to use intimate wet wipes – they are always alcohol FREE.
This is a needed step to remove any excess residue and pigmentation and to keep the place sterile.
What to apply 7 days after the treatment?
There are several product that will keep your eyebrows hydrated, protected and restored.
Apply vaseline 3 to 5 times a week (or coconut oil)
If your skin is very oily, please apply the vaseline just the first day! As we already mentioned microblading lasts less on oily skin because oil makes pigments fade away more quickly.
Apply anti-scar cream
Microblading is a treatment that applies micro injuries to the skin. After the treatment your skin is wounded and it has to heal. Please, apply anti-scar cream so it can protect the skin from scarring.
Apply cream with sun protection (SPF)
Sunlight can damage your results. Sun protection is crucial for microblading and it saves some months from fading.
Apply anti-sweat cream
Dubai is a place where temperatures are high and even if you don’t workout, you might sweat from no activity. During this period is very important to prevent the area from sweating.
What to avoid 7-14 days after the treatment?
- Restrain from using any creams except for the ones mentioned above.
- Don’t rinse your brows with water.
- Keep your skin protected from direct sunlight.
- Try not to cause excessive sweating due to working out and going to SPA – sauna, inhalations.
- Avoid facial massages.
- Avoid makeup of any kind.
- Keep your hair away from the treated area.
- Avoid driving in open roof vehicles.
- Performing heavy cleaning in dirty areas.
- Swimming.
- UV/UVA Rays.
- Drinking alcohol – it leads to slow healing.
Important: During the healing process, your skin will dry out and on the area will form a crust. We know the temptation to pull it is almost irresistible but you need to keep your hands away from the crust.
Please, don’t pull the crust as it will make the pigment go up and it might leave you with a scar.
What to avoid 30 days after the treatment?
There are several things you need to avoid during the whole healing process.
- Sun exposure for tanning – always apply sun protection cream.
- Sun beds.
- Facial laser treatments – they can destroy the pigment and inflame your skin.
- Chemical peels.
- Creams with regenerating factors.
- Fruit acids.
- Microdermabrasion.
- Antibiotics.
- Hormonal therapy.
Touch up
This is a very important step and you shouldn’t miss it. It’s the key to long lasting eyebrows!
Up to a month after the treatment you will need to come back to your semi-permanent makeup artist for touch up. It’s normal the pigmentation to fade away a little bit – it’s part of the healing process.
After the touch up your eyebrows can last up to 12 months depending on your skin and the care you apply for your brows.
Maintenance tips for longer lasting microblading
Maintenance is extremely easy. Once the initial procedure is done, your skin is healed and ready for any event, your first touch up is also over… There are just a few considerations you need to have:
- Sunlight fades the pigment more quickly – always apply sun protection cream (30 SPF to 50 SPF)!
- Oily skins cause fading faster – there’s nothing you can do about is except next time go for hybrid brows.
This is everything you need to know so you can prepare for the treatment. Always ask your makeup artist about the steps and follow the strictly. They are designed to give you the maximum for your investment.
