CoolSculpting and SculpSure are the two leading technologies for fat reduction. Recently we discovered that many of our clients ask us some critical questions:
- What is the difference between SculpSure and CoolSculpting?
- Which treatment is better?
There is no one single explanation to both questions. This is why we will extend the answer and give you a complete overview of the treatments’ effectiveness, similarities, differences.
We’ll start with the similarities.
SculpSure and CoolSculpting similarities
As we all know, both treatments have a similar effect on fat tissues. As much as they’re different, they also hide some similarities.
Both treatments – SculpSure and CoolSculpting – are:
- Effectively reducing body fat.
- Non-invasive.
- FDA cleared.
- Scientifically proven and safe.
- Executed by certified professionals.
- Rely on the lymphatic system to excrete fat cells from the body.
- Induce lipolysis.
- Lead to fat cells destruction.
- Both show visible results 8-16 weeks after the treatment.
Pretty much, these are the core similarities. As we see – the generals are covered. Let’s see the differences.
SculpSure and CoolSculpting differences
In general, both treatments differ in: a way of work, technology launch, price, session duration, number of treated areas, downtime, side effects, pain sensation, scientific results.
Way of work
CoolSculpting is well known to freeze body fat, causing it to destroy and excrete from the bodily system. In contrast, SculpSure heats the deep layers of the tissue and causes fat cells to melt.
When we talk about SculpSure vs. CoolSculpting, we should always imagine Heating vs. Freezing.
Technology launch
CoolSculpting has been on the beauty market for many following years. It has proven its worth, effectiveness, and results. In contrast, SculpSure is a much newer method of body fat reduction. Nonetheless, it’s considered an upgraded and more advanced way to reduce fat in a non-invasive way.
Treatments’ cost
CoolSculpting is a well-known brand that announces higher prices in return for great results. SculpSure has also proven its effectiveness but with much less spending on treatments.
This makes SculpSure a preferable option when the price is on the table – and not only.
Number of treated areas
During a CoolSculpting session, you can choose only one area to treat – meaning that the machine works for only one problematic body area (for example – only the stomach).
In contrast, SculpSure can treat multiple areas at once. Isn’t that great?
Session duration
Depending on the treated area, CoolSculpting can take no less than 35 minutes. SculpSure treats multiple locations for no more than 25 minutes. This is why we call it the “lunch break lipo”.
Downtime
CoolSculpting is a much more invasive treatment, although it doesn’t use scalp or any surgical intervention. The recovery time after the treatment can take up to 2 weeks.
SculpSure, on the other hand, doesn’t require any downtime. You can go on with your life with no discomfort right after the treatment.
Side effects
Since CoolSculpting uses freezing as a fat reduction method and requires suction, you can experience pain and bruise after the treatment. These side effects aren’t dangerous, but they’re discomforting as you pay for fat reduction, not pain and bruises.
Caution: There are reports of patients that experience reversed effects – after the treatment, they gain even more weight as fat cells reproduce and double their quantity. This happens very rarely, but it happens.
In contrast, SculpSure doesn’t use suction and leads only to the mild sensation of heating and burning. It goes away quickly. In general, SculpSure is not reported to have any side effects that matter to your appearance or health.
Pain
We want to note that pain is a very subjective sensation. Some patients report mild discomfort. Others evaluate the whole process as very painful. This applies to both treatments.
Some people report pain with CoolSculpting as it brings extreme cold sensations. Along with suction, it can be very uncomfortable for a patient with thin or sensitive skin.
SculpSure heats the body’s tissues, but alongside we apply fantastic blast cycles to reduce the heating sensation. Some patients report it to be calming and soothing – others say it to be too hot and uncomfortable.
Scientific results
Dermatological Surgery evaluated more than 500 CoolSculpting patients and reported, “Survey results demonstrated 73% patient satisfaction and… a 23% reduction in fat layer thickness at three months.” However, 14% of these patients didn’t see any results.
In the original article: Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, the results for SculpSure are impressive. The patient satisfaction is 91%-98% with up to 25% fat reduction after the first session.
